Navigating the forum
I am honestly trying to give this a try and use it like I have the old forum, but I may be toooo much a nob to this set up to be easily doing things correctly.
Is there an easy way to navigate through the forum. Thus far every time I’ve read a thread or posted a reply I have not been able to get back to the various sub forum … I’ve had to click on the forum tab ang go all the way back to the master forum page.
Also, as with my signature on the old forum, … I am a HORRID speller … on the old forum my auto spell check worked and caught at least some of my inadequacies … but I can’t figure out how to get it to work here (without typing in word and then copy pasting it here) Is there a setting or option I need to correct here?
I agree with Lurker. Navigating through these forums is a pain. There should be a navigation pane or line, like the TLG forums site.
Have no idea what you mean. No problems finding stuff for me. The Forum link to the left takes you there, Then break down to the posts. Bottom panes give you most current topics or let you look through stuff after a fashion. The posts below the chat window are not the forum, just the most recent posts made for easy notice.
I think the point is that using the "Forums" link on the left panel takes you to top of the Forums where you then have to drill down into the SubForum again. So it's 2-3 clicks to get back into a SubForum and new Topic. Something like a roll-over/drop-down list of SubForums would make 1-2 clicks. At least that is how I read the post. At this point not a big deal but when there are 20 SubForums I can see it getting tougher.
That is correct. Apologies for appearing to be too blunt before. Right now it's not that big of a deal, but if this forum starts getting larger, it will probably become an issue. As I mentioned, having the ability to navigate these forums like you can in the TLG forums would be ideal. There's probably a technical name for that, but I can't recall it right now.
I have to agree with Lurker. Navigating is not as easy as in the TLG formus. Also, that Chat room pop up in the lower right corner of the screen is annoying. It needs to go.
You can easily disable the chat by just "x"ing out. Having said that, these are all good points and suggestions. We want to make this easy and enjoyable for folks to use, and if we can tweak it to make it more user friendly, then we will definitely do that.
